LIFE Operating Grant

The LIFE Operating Grant supports the functioning of Eurosite as a non-profit organisation involved in developing, implementing and advocating European Union environmental and climate legislation and policy.

THE LIFE OPERATING GRANT PROJECT’S SCOPE

Duration 2022-2024

This LIFE Operating Grant project supports the implementation of the following objectives as laid out in Eurosite’s Strategy 2021-2025:

Networking for Europe’s Nature.

The LIFE Operating Grant supports deepening thematic cooperation and knowledge exchange among natural site managers through new Twinning initiatives on emerging issues such as Nature-Based Solutions on climate, health, integrated planning, and disaster control. It also helps expand Eurosite’s membership and geographic coverage and establishes new strategic partnerships.

Thematic Cooperation for Natura 2000

The LIFE Operating Grant supports the implementation of the EU nature directives and strengthens the Natura 2000 Biogeographical Process by fostering the exchange of good practice in Eurosite’s Working Groups on:

Eurosite and the EU institutions

The LIFE Operating Grant increases Eurosite’s presence at the European level, raises public awareness of the importance of protecting and enhancing Europe’s ecosystem services, and encourages cooperation between site managers and farmers by promoting nature-friendly products and goods from Natura 2000 areas.

Organisational development

The LIFE Operating Grant ensures that Eurosite’s Secretariat and Board have the necessary capacity, skillset, resources, flexibility, and long-term perspectives to deliver Eurosite’s mission. The grant strengthens Eurosite’s financial capacity by diversifying income streams, improving communication with Eurosite Members, and sharpening Eurosite’s profile for stakeholders and the broader public (Report 2023).
