Dr Jeroen Onrust of the Conservation Ecology Group at the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences, University of Groningen, investigates the interactions between meadow birds, earthworms, and farming practices.
As part of his research, he developed a novel method for observing surfacing earthworms in grasslands, which provided new insights into earthworm availability for birds and the broader ecology of earthworms.
In this webinar, Jeroen Onrust will explain the benefits of using coarse organic material instead of regular fertilisers. With minimal soil disturbance, soil fauna will eventually benefit, resulting in a farming system that takes advantage of ecosystem services.
