Danube-Carpathian Programme
The purpose of the NGO Danube-Carpathian Program is to preserve and sustainably use natural heritage, support democratic processes and introduce innovation visions in nature conservation for the 21st century. Priority areas of activities are linked to protected areas network development and capacity building, sustainable forest management, adaptation to climate change, restoration of natural ecosystems, public support for democratic processes linked to natural resources use, legislation framework support and the development of environmental education.
The Danube-Carpathian Programme team is composed of experts and scientists on ecology, conservation biology, sustainable development of natural ecosystems and natural resources (like forests, wetlands), ecological legislation and other problems of conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. We carry out research studies, environmental projects implementation, conservation management activities, environmental impact assessment, public campaigns support, work on improving environmental legislation etc.
Bohdan Prots is an Assoc. Prof. Dr., at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He won the Whitley Award for Nature Conservation (2007) and the Wyfinder Award of the National Geographic Society (2024). He is currently CEO and Director of the Danube-Carpathian Programme in Ukraine and Head of the Department of Landscape and Biota Diversity at the State Museum of Natural History, Lviv, Ukraine.
