Kristijan is from Croatia and has 14 years of working experience in nature conservation gathered at ECNC-European Centre for Nature Conservation and State Institute for Nature Protection in Croatia before that. Therefore he has good knowledge and understanding of national and European policies and regulations regarding nature conservation – especially of the EU nature directives and Natura 2000 network, as well as a broad network at pan-European level. Furthermore Kristijan has a lot of experience in project management, running training workshops, knowledge based facilitation and stakeholder involvement processes.
“After a number of years of being involved mainly in the science-policy interface related work, I felt it was time to move closer to practice. While working at the policy level is important, the actual management of protected areas is where the nature conservation action takes place. This is where Eurosite – as the network of nature managers – has a great role to play and I am happy I will be part of this.”

“In the past I have looked outside of Europe for adventure and wilderness, only to realize that this could be found just around the corner. Europe’s nature is beautiful, diverse and special in its own way. I wish for everyone to be able to enjoy this; young, old and future generations. Working at Eurosite, together with all our passionate members, I am sure we can reach this goal.”
