The South-Eastern part of the Great Hungarian Plain with its special atmosphere is a treasure-trove of several natural values of national and international importance. The geographical features, especially the characteristic landscape shaped by the activity of the rivers Körös and Maros made it necessary to develop a unified nature conservation policy for this area.
