The fourth LIFE+ call for proposals has been published on 04 May 2010, with up to €243 million available for co-financing of projects: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/life/funding/lifeplus.htm
The deadline for submission of LIFE proposals is 1 September 2010 and projects are expected to start as of 1 September 2011.

The European Commission will publish the fourth Call for Proposals under the LIFE+ Programme on 5th May 2010, with up to €240 million available for co-financing projects under three headings: nature and biodiversity; environment policy and governance; and information and communication.
The European Commission, in conjunction with STELLA Consulting and MWH, will organise Information Sessions on the LIFE+ Programme in each of the 27 Member States of the European Union.

On Monday 15 March 2010 the Council of EU Environment Ministers met in Brussels to discuss three core inter-linked issues - biodiversity loss, climate change and the new economic strategy, called EU 2020. The final version of the conclusions of the Environment Council on the EU and global vision and targets has just been published.
