Free online database of environmental research for policymakers now available

A new database of environmental research has been launched by Science for Environment Policy to help decision makers develop evidence-based policy: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/integration/research/newsalert/research_...

Science for Environment Policy is a free news and information service published by the European Commission’s DG Environment and edited by the Science Communication Unit at the University of the West of England (UWE). It is designed to help policymakers keep up-to-date with the latest environmental research findings needed to design, implement and regulate effective policies.

Free to access, the Research Repository builds on Science for Environment Policy’s News Alert and Future Briefs, to create a one-stop shop for environmental policymakers seeking quality research. It lists studies that have undergone a rigorous selection process, with the assistance of independent scientific advisors, to ensure that only high quality research is featured, that has policy implications in the short, medium or long term.

The resource will grow as new research becomes available. Studies are catalogued by topic, across an extensive range of policy themes, from ecosystem services to ecolabelling, and from soil management to urban water management. This is designed to help ensure that individual policymakers can find studies that are relevant to their specific project.

Researchers are also encouraged to bring relevant publications to the attention of Science for Environment Policy that would merit inclusion in this repository, by emailing study suggestions to the editorial team at: sfep.editorial@uwe.ac.uk.

The Research Repository is published by the Environment Directorate-General of the European Commission as part of the Science for Environment Policy service, which also features free news alerts and policy briefs, to keep environmental policymakers informed of the latest scientific developments.
