CMSi software launched at Eurosite Annual Meeting in Brussels

In the early nineties, a grant from the Environment Directorate-General made it possible to ‘kick start’ the CMS concept. During the evening reception of the Eurosite Annual Meeting 2011, the new version called CMSi was launched in the presence of Mr Stefan Leiner, Head of DG Environment’s Natura 2000 unit.

CMSi is an innovative planning methodology supported by a practical management planning software tool for the management of biodiversity, conservation and green space sites. CMSi has been developed by leading Eurosite members in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. It is a best practice example of how working together is proven to be cost effective for organisations and, at the same time, beneficial to nature conservation as a whole.

CMSi stands for ‘Conservation Management System International ‘and is an approach to the planning and managing of sites that has been developed, tested and refined over many years by a consortium of conservation organisations. This consortium operates on a non‐profit basis.
