The 7th Charter networking meeting “Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas: Building Bridges - Seeking Solutions“ will take place from 28 June – 1 July in Donji Milanovac, Djerdap National Park, Serbia.

Given the interest from many Eastern European countries in sustainable tourism but not yet Charter parks, the decision to broaden the scope of the meeting to include wider aspects was made and led to the conference title “Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas: Building Bridges - Seeking solutions”. At the conference EUROPARC hopes to show how the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism delivers for protected areas, entrepreneurs and local communities.

The enthusiastic and professional team in Djerdap National Park has made every effort to prepare an excellent event. Excursions will take you into the heart of the park, into both the wild uplands of the gorge, into the underbelly of the caves and indeed onto the River Danube itself.

Speeches and workshop will examine the thinking and imperatives behind sustainable tourism, whilst bringing examples of good practise from around the Charter network. There will be also a chance for existing Charter areas to discuss the mechanic of the Charter and look to how we can improve the system. There will be ample opportunities to network and share examples, get new ideas and make new contacts.

The official languages of the VIIth Meeting of the European Charter Network will be Serbian and English with simultaneous translation during plenary sessions. Workshop #1: Introduction to the European Charter Part I can be held simultaneously in English and Serbian depending on the registrations. All documents and findings will be available in Serbian and English languages.

Hotel accommodation is not covered and must be paid separately in advance. Due to a generous offer from the Hotel Lepenski Vir, all accommodation and meals from cocktails dinner on Tuesday 28 June to lunch on Friday 1 July are included for ONLY 129 €.
