REQUEST FOR PARTNER IN SPAIN
The Romanian National Park Macin Mountains is looking for a Twinning partner in Spain.
1. The subject of research / cooperation they are interested in is:
a. Community / stakeholder relationships in the vicinity of the park;
b. Organic farming as an alternative activity for properties located in the immediate vicinity and as a protective measure for the biodiversity of the Park - (favouring the development of priority flora, and supporting favourable conditions for priority fauna).
2. The Macin Mountains National Park is different from all the other National and natural parks in Europe, as it protects steppe ecosystems, laying on the most ancient geological formations in Europe: Kimerian-Haercinic mountains range(400,000,000 of age- at about 200 km from the Carpathians and 20 km from the Danube and 75 km from the Danube Delta).
There is an interbedding of ecosystems due to its geographical position. There are interbeddings of Pontic, Sub- Mediterranean and Caucasian, Asian and Central European ecosystems, which unfold a rich fauna and vegetation scenery. It is the only protected area throughout Europe where steppe biodiversity is being protected inside the Macin Mountains National Park, there are no localities inside but in the vicinity of the park there are 14 ethnic communities . That is why an experienced partner in promoting cultural values and handcrafts in the vicinity of the park would be the most desired.
3. Macin Mountains NP has previous experience in European partnership working, colloborating with the National Parks - Hohetauern, Austria and Triglav - Slovenia.
