Natura Network Initiative

Promoting good practice in the management of Natura 2000 sites and raising public and stakeholder awareness of Natura 2000 through the collation and publication of real examples of good management practice, and facilitation of networking between identified ambassadors for Natura 2000.
This programme worked directly with more than 70 site managers from 18 European countries, establishing a collection of good practice agreements and case studies for some 150 Natura 2000 sites, accounting for in excess of 700,000 ha of European protected areas.
The Natura Network Initiative also included Natura 2000 Green Days - over 1700 nature events were recorded during the three-year life of the initiative.
The Natura Network Initiative was managed by Eurosite on behalf of the European Commission, in partnership with the EUROPARC Federation and the European Landowners Organisation.
