Focusing on communication, capacity building and the value of working in partnership to achieve nature conservation objectives, the Natura 2000 Networking Programme (NNP) organised a series of training events and themed workshops, and the creation of practical tools to promote Natura 2000, good practice in site management and the benefits of networking. The NNP worked directly with 30 site managers and landowners from 18 European countries, implementing a role-out programme of 15 training events to raise capacity for good management practice of Natura 2000 areas. The programme also developed a series of practical guidance materials for the communication and management of Natura 2000 – including profiles and case studies from Natura 2000 sites. Additionally, the NNP saw the organisation of over 150 nature events throughout Europe – ‘Natura 2000 Green Days’.
The Natura 2000 Networking Programme was managed by Eurosite on behalf of the European Commission, in partnership with the EUROPARC Federation and the European Landowners Organisation.
