Next to nature conservation, health benefits and local economy impacts, protected areas hold spiritual and holy values. These values are dealt with in the new book The Diversity of Sacred Lands in Europe.

IUCN and Eurosite member Metsähallitus Natural Heritage Services have co-published this book, which discusses sacred natural sites in protected areas.

The book was financed by the Finnish Ministry of the Environment. The full name of the book is "The Diversity of Sacred Lands in Europe: Proceedings of the Third Workshop of the Delos Initiative – Inari/Aanaar 2010"
