LANDLIFE Boosting land stewardship as a conservation tool in the western Mediterranean arch: a communication and training scheme

Eurosite member Xarxa de Custòdia del Territori (Land Stewardship Network - XCT) leads LANDLIFE: a LIFE+ Information and Communication project to promote land stewardship in Europe.

The European Commission has awarded the XCT the LANDLIFE project, which aims to communicate the value of land stewardship as an effective and successful tool for nature conservation and biodiversity. The communication efforts will be addressed to the public in general, conservation organisations, owners and other specific agents.

The project has a budget of 1,628,273 euros and will run during the period 2011-2014. The LANDLIFE partnership consists of five partners: the XCT (Spain) as coordinator, Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels du Languedoc-Roussillon (CENLR, France), Legambiente Lombardia (Italy), Eurosite (Europe), and Prysma (Spain).

The project includes the publication of a European manual for land stewardship, the celebration of the European Week of Land Stewardship in the autumn of 2012, the creation of an online webspace for land stewardship, an online course on land stewardship, regional seminars and a European conference to be held in Catalonia in 2014 to close the project.

The LANDLIFE project is a recognition of the work of land stewardship organisations, institutions and individuals that are committed to land stewardship in their area and offers the opportunity to launch initiatives across Europe.

On 28 September 2011 the LANDLIFE partners met in Barcelona to kick off the project, and they also visited two initiatives of land stewardship in Catalonia.

We would like to find out what the status of landstewardship is in Europe by carrying out an initial project study. Please complete our questionnaire by 17 February 2012 on http://forms.lavola.net/enquesta3.php?id=dHdlbnRpYzIwMTIwMTA0MTY0MDE1OTI...
